Gazetteer

Duckit's master list of about 69,300 real-world places. A gazetteer is simply a dictionary of place names; this one comes from GeoNames, a free public database of world geography.

• •Places are stacked continent, then country, then region, then metro area, then city. Click down through the levels to find one.
• •Every community is attached to one of these places, and the place is what decides who can join that community.
• •Editing a place therefore changes who can join which community - so only retire a place once nothing is attached to it.
• •Add City creates a place that GeoNames does not have.
